New native species in the cultivation of edible mushrooms

About the activity

For a long time, mushrooms have been part of human food and have been appreciated for their taste and aroma, and their medicinal properties.
The benefits of reaching a controlled crop of these edible mushrooms are many compared to their direct harvesting in the forest.
Catalonia is a country with a great diversity and mycological tradition. But most cultivated mushrooms come from the Asian tradition, a pioneer in this type of cultivation.
The aim of the innovative pilot project that we will present to you has been to incorporate new species of fungi, lignícolas and autochthonous of Catalonia, in the cultivation of edible mushrooms.

Project funded through Operation 16.01.01 (cooperation for innovation) of the RDP of Catalonia 2014-2020
