Drought is one of the key climate change issues in the Mediterranean. The frequency and severity of meteorological and hydrological droughts have increased and are expected to increase in the Mediterranean area, where there will be greater competition for water resources between different uses: domestic, agricultural, industrial and tourism.
From March 27 to 29, Lleida will host an international congress to present the results obtained in the LIAISE mission (Land Surface Interactions with the Atmosphere over the Iberian Semiarid Environment), which was carried out in the Pla de Lleida during the year 2021.
This mission aimed to improve the understanding of the interactions of different land-atmosphere-hydrology uses in the Pla de Lleida and to provide the foundations for improving meteorological and hydrological models leading to better impact studies on water resources.
Taking advantage of the occasion and the beginning of an uncertain irrigation campaign, this conference has been organized to inform the sector about the results presented at this congress. In addition, experts will also discuss with relevant aspects on how to improve predictive models meteorològics.com can affect us drought in irrigated areas of the Mediterranean and how it can be managed.
