Knowing the soil, a key tool for sustainable crop fertilization

About the activity

In the Plans for the Improvement of Agricultural Fertilization in Catalonia, activities have been concentrated in several river basins, one of which is the Torrent Gran basin in the Empordà.
The aim of the actions is to improve fertilization practices, to show how this can affect the quality of soils, waters and the environment in general.
The activities focus on promoting the use of those techniques and technologies that improve the efficiency of the use of fertilizers, especially organic ones. Coinciding with World Soil Day which is celebrated on December 5, the day will focus on soil knowledge, optimization in the use of livestock manure for improving soil fertility, as well as the use of precision farming techniques in fertilizer application.
This conference is organized within the framework of the Plans for the Improvement of Agricultural Fertilization in the Girona Counties (within the Network of Plans of Catalonia, the CONQUES project promoted by the DARP) and the Operational Group "Precision agriculture for the improvement of the production and quality of winter cereals and their sustainability ”.
