The abuse of the use of antibiotics in human and veterinary clinics and in agriculture in recent decades has led to a worrying increase in bacteria resistant to them, becoming one of the greatest threats to human health and animal.
For this reason, different international organizations years ago called for the prudent use of antibiotics and the need to drastically reduce their use in all areas. In Spain, the measures to guarantee this responsible use took shape in the National Antibiotic Resistance Plan (PRAN), initiated in 2014 following a directive from the European Commission. The aim of this day is to give a global view, with a One Health approach, of this problem and to echo the progress in reducing the use of antibiotics in poultry farming, as well as the strategies used , at different levels, which have allowed many good results to be achieved in a short time.
It is a day aimed at livestock farmers, veterinary advisors, the agri-food industry, and researchers in the animal sector. This day is part of the demonstration activity "Impact on the reduction of the use of antibiotics in the culture of meat in the presence of resistant Campylobacter spp", operation 01.02.01 (technology transfer) of the PDR of Catalonia 2014-2020 .
