Predatory syrphids

About the activity

Syrphids are a family of dipterans very present in our crops. Adults often look similar to bees and wasps and feed on nectar and pollen. In contrast, the larvae of many species are large predators of aphids and other soft-bodied insects. In this session, we will review the role that syrphids can play in our agricultural ecosystems.
