The objective of the seminar is to present a refined list of indicators for evaluating the state of consciousness in turkeys stunned with an electric bath, and the evaluation methodology will also be explained. On the other hand, the efficiency of stunning will be presented according to key electrical parameters and characteristics of the turkeys (i.e., weight, sex) as well as recommendations to avoid pain, distress and suffering during slaughter.
This seminar is based on a study carried out by EURCAW-Poultry-SFA - European Union Reference Center on animal welfare of poultry and other small farm animals.
