Núria Busquets

Dra. Núria Busquets Martí, holds a degree in Biology (2001) and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology (2005) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Since 2006 she has been working as a researcher at IRTA-CReSA, focusing her study on zoonotic diseases. Since 2014, he has been in charge of the Arbovirus and vector arthropod research line, whose main objective is to study the virus-mosquito interaction in order to improve the surveillance and control of mosquito-borne zoonotic viruses. His scientific career is aimed at better understanding the key aspects of vector competition, both native mosquitoes and mosquitoes invading by various (re) -emergent arboviruses of great relevance to both human health and the dengue, zika or chikungunya virus. for zoonotic viruses of great importance in animal health such as the Rift Valley Fever virus and the West Nile virus, in order to better estimate the risk of introduction and transmission of these viruses. She is responsible, at IRTA-CReSA, for the West Nile virus surveillance and alert program as a service by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food (DARP) and the mosquito virus surveillance program such as in service by the Department of Health. She is currently the coordinator of the Virology Section of the Catalan Society of Biology.
