James Taylor is Director of Research at INRAE, located in the Information Technology Research Unit for the Agriculture of the Future (UMR ITAP) in Montpellier, and works within the National Digital Agriculture Initiative (#DigitAg) . He leads the Decision and Modeling group, which focuses on digital and precision agriculture applications in viticulture and other crops. He has worked in the field of precision agriculture since 1997. The experience of Dr. Taylor is in agronomy, soil science and spatial statistics, and investigates the application of new and emerging data structures and sensors in agricultural production systems. He has held several research and postdoctoral fellowships closely linked to industry and transnational activities in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Asia and North America, for both herbaceous and perennial horticultural systems. He has continuous collaborations in the area of Precision Agriculture with researchers from the United States, Italy, Greece and China.
