About the activity

The project PigStun* is aimed at encouraging EU pig slaughterhouses using high carbon dioxide concentration for stunning pigs to convert to more animal welfare friendly systems, by testing technical specifications and feasibility for four promising alternatives.

During this webinar, the following alternatives will be presented: Argon Retrofit system, Helium system, Optimised CAS process, Improved Electrical Stunning system. A description of the system will be provided, along with pro’s and con’s of these alternatives and their impact on economy, environment, labor, and animal welfare.
