The marbled brown barnacle, Halyomorpha halys Stål, was found for the first time in Catalonia in 2016. Since then it has been spreading throughout the Catalan geography and is now present in all four provinces.
Its biological characteristics such as polyphagy and high fecundity make the insect a very dangerous agricultural pest.
In recent years, numerous studies have been carried out with the aim of having tools for its control in the various crops that may be affected. In addition, tools are also being developed to control it in the urban environment and also in the natural environment, both reservoirs of its populations.
