Dra. Emma F\u00e0brega i Romans es licenciada en veterinaria (1995) y Doctora en producci\u00f3n animal (2002) por la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Barcelona. Tambi\u00e9n curs\u00f3 un M\u00e1ster de Comportamiento Animal Aplicado y Bienestar Animal (1998) por la Universidad de Edinburgh y es Diplomada del European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine en la subespecialidad en Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. Desde 2003 trabaja en el IRTA, en el programa de Bienestar Animal, investigando sobre sistemas de evaluar el bienestar animal en granja, especialmente en porcino, y estrategias de mejora. Ha coordinado proyectos nacionales sobre alternativas a pr\u00e1cticas dolorosas como la castraci\u00f3n o el raboteo en porcino, y en proyectos europeos sobre la aplicaci\u00f3n de tecnolog\u00edas de precisi\u00f3n para mejorar el Bienestar, el desarrollo de nuevos indicadores para evaluar el Bienestar, o la relaci\u00f3n entre Bienestar animal y sostenibilidad. Cuenta con m\u00e1s de 60 publicaciones de art\u00edculos en revistas indexadas, y ha participado tambi\u00e9n en cap\u00edtulos de libros y publicaciones en revistas de divulgaci\u00f3n. Ha participado como ponente desde 2003 en jornadas de formaci\u00f3n de ganaderos, veterinarios, u otros agentes del sector, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, as\u00ed como en m\u00e1s de 100 presentaciones en congresos.
