The Summer Day at IRTA Mas Badia is an annual edition and we can be happy that at the moment, not a pandemic has deprived us of sharing results and bringing innovations to the apple fruit sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day will be developed in a tour of different field stations and the focus is on moving towards sustainable fruit growing. We hope the program is of interest to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This day is part of the demonstration activities \u201cDEMO CLONS GALA\u201d, \u201cDEMO PORTAEMPELTS DE POMERA\u201d and \u201cCONTROL SOSTENIBLE DE TALPONS\u201d financed by the Operation 01.02.01 of Technological Transfer of the Program of rural development of Catalonia 2014-2020. It is also part of the Operational Group \"Pom-Zero\" and the ECOHERBATGE project to encourage applied research in organic production. Finally, also the dissemination of the PECT project \"Girona, a region sensitive to water\".<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joaquim Carb\u00f3 Pericay is an Agricultural Technical Engineer and since 1984 he has been carrying out his research activity at the Mas Badia Agricultural Experimental Station. He is technically responsible for the activities carried out within the framework of the Fruit Growing Program: evaluation of new varieties and rootstocks, design and sustainable management of plantations, bioregulators and implementation of fruit quality.<\/p>\n\n

Jaume Lordan Sanahuja, Researcher at IRTA since June 2018. Previously postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University (NY) (2015-2018), being part of the culture physiology and technology group. Gl\u00f2ria \u00c0vila Casademont is an Agricultural Technical Engineer (2008) from the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya and holds a Master's Degree in Organic Agriculture (2009) and in Environmental Agrobiology (2013), both from the University of Barcelona. Since 2008 she has been a collaborator in research at IRTA Mas Badia, developing activities within the framework of the Fruit Growing program, and more specifically in the cultivation of the apple tree: evaluation of new varieties, rootstocks, design and sustainable management of plantations, bioregulators and implementation of fruit quality. Pere Vilardell, Agricultural Technical Engineer, who has been working at the Mas Badia experimental station since 1985. His task is the development of trials in the field of fruit growing, apple and pear, and crop protection, especially diseases.<\/p>\n\n

He has participated in the preparation and validation of some models for predicting fungal diseases that affect seeds and vines.<\/p>\n\n

Luc\u00eda Adriana Escudero-Colomar holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. IRTA researcher since 2003. Her main lines of research focus on the knowledge of the biology and behavior of certain key pests and on the development of methods and \/ or strategies to control them, aimed at obtaining of fruit without pesticide residues.<\/p>\n\n

In in the field of technology transfer, she is the co-author of a book on Phytoseiidae species associated with crops, a Fruit.Net Technical Guide for Apple Production and another Technical Guide on Halyomorpha halys. Jordi Cabrefiga \nOlamendi has a degree in biology from the University of Girona and a doctorate in \nBiotechnology from the University of Girona. He has worked as a researcher \nfor almost 20 years at the University of Girona. Since 2018 he has been working at \nIRTA, carrying out research, training, transfer and \ncontracts with companies in the area of \u200b\u200bsustainable plant protection. Has been \nresponsible for numerous contracts with companies and has participated in projects \nnational and international standards in the field of plant health.
