It is kept in nature in a cycle between birds and mosquitoes.
Numerous species of birds and mosquitoes support their replication. It can affect birds, humans, and horses causing an inapparent infection, febrile illness, meningitis, encephalitis, or even death. Horses and people are considered the "sack ass" of the disease because they can not transmit it via mosquito bites.

The occurrence of West Nile fever has increased in recent years in Europe, increasing its distribution at higher latitudes and the number of cases in humans and equids by 2020 in the Iberian Peninsula. Effective surveillance is needed to prevent and control it. In this day we will know the epidemiological situation in which we find ourselves in order to prepare for the next season of transmission of the virus.

[1508,1496
1514

post-6261","activitats","type-activitats","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","ods-15-life-on-land","ods-3-good-health-and-well-being","programa_irta-a4-animal-health
https://transferencia.irta.cat/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Blanco-Foto-Mar-Paisaje-Respira-Facebook-Portada.png
https://transferencia.irta.cat/en/activitats/the-west-nile-virus/en-linia_virus-nil_300421_210042-2-2/

10.00 h Presentation of the day

Mrs. Núria Busquets Martí, IRTA-CReSA.

10.10 am Introduction to the West Nile virus and current epidemiological situation in Europe

Sebastián Napp, IRTA-CReSA

10.30 am A “One Health” view of the circulation of the West Nile virus in Andalusia.

Sr. Jordi Figuerola, CSIC

11.00 am Epidemiological situation of the West Nile virus, surveillance and research in Extremadura.

Mrs. Eva Frontera, University of Extremadura

11.30 am Pause

11.40 am Epidemiological situation of the West Nile virus, surveillance and research in Catalonia.

Mrs. Núria Busquets Martí, IRTA-CReSA.

12.00 Round Table (Question Time)

12.30 pm Closing of the day Mrs.

Núria Busquets Martí, IRTA-CReSA.

Dra.
