In the Genomics and Biotechnology Program of the Plant Area of \u200b\u200bthe IRTA at the CRAG, we want to promote the knowledge of plant Genomics, dismantle myths and false beliefs and make known how Genomics can speed up the selection process of new varieties plants, as well as strengthening the breeder's rights by allowing precise, reproducible and rapid varietal identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why we invite you to a training talk in which we will clarify doubts and explain, through practical examples, what plant genomics is and what applications it has today. The sessions are aimed at producers, members of cooperatives, nurseries, breeders\u2026 and the entire agricultural sector in favor of innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marta Pujol Abajo is a PhD in Biotechnology and IRTA researcher attached to CRAG, where she has developed her scientific career in the field of genetics and genomics of horticultural plants identifying genes responsible for agronomic characters. His public research is aimed at deciphering the genetics of ripening, fruit quality and resistance to melon diseases. He is also in charge of contracts with seed companies developing molecular markers for transfer to horticultural plant genetic improvement programs, as well as genomic tools for varietal identification. Silvia Fornal\u00e8 \u00e9s llicenciada en Ci\u00e8ncies Naturals i Doctora en Biologia i Fisiologia Cel\u00b7lular per la Universitat de Bolonya (It\u00e0lia). Des de l\u2019any 2017 treballa a l\u2019IRTA en el Departament de Gen\u00f3mica i Biotecnologia ubicat al CRAG (Centre de Recerca en AgriGen\u00f2mica) com a investigadora post-doctoral. El seu treball es centra en la millora del cascall i s\u2019emmarca en un projecte fruit d\u2019un acord entre l\u2019IRTA i una empresa puntera en el sector. Silvia Fornal\u00e8 has a degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Cell Biology and Physiology from the University of Bologna (Italy). He works as a crop genomics research technician in the Genomics and Biotechnology Department of the IRTA attached to the AgriGenomics Research Center (CRAG). His activity focuses on the genetics and genomics of plants of agro-industrial interest, developing projects for private companies. She is the author of numerous publications in specialized scientific journals and has collaborated in national and international research projects.
