The IRTA Genetics and Animal Improvement Program, and the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda (DACC) of the Generalitat de Catalunya collaborate with the Spanish Rabbit Association (ASESCU) in the organization of the 46 Rabbit Symposium to be held on 1 and 2 June 2022 in Pineda del Mar (Barcelona).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symposium is held every year in different cities of the state and this time it will be held in Pineda del Mar, on the 1st and 2nd of June. The event is an opportunity to bring together producers, researchers and companies related to the rabbit sector. The conference will present various papers and scientific papers focused on topics that are considered of special relevance to the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the first day, Jose Mar\u00eda Gil, from the Center for Research in Agri-Food Economics and Development (CREDA), will talk about trends in the meat products market and the implications it may have for the rabbit sector. On the other hand, Jordina Casas, from the Federation of Associations of Rabbit Farmers of Catalonia (FACC) will present the situation of rabbit farming in Catalonia. In the afternoon, there will be a round table in which several national and international researchers, the Interprofessional Organization of Rabbits (INTERCUN) and representatives of the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda (DACC) of the Generalitat de Catalunya, will discuss welfare. animal and the use of cages in the rabbit sector. On the second day of the conference, Fernando Estell\u00e9s (Polytechnic University of Valencia) will present a paper on the environment and production of rabbit meat, and the Association of Veterinarians Specializing in Rabbit Farming (AVECU) will address the issue of changes in regulations on medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these guest presentations, we will also have, during the Symposium, free communication sessions where the advances in research done by different groups in the most relevant scientific disciplines for the sector, such as well-being, nutrition, genetics, will be presented. , animal management and health.
