Surveillance and biosecurity in animal and public health
Biosecurity and disease surveillance constitute two fundamental pillars for preventing, detecting, and managing health crises in both animal and public health. In a context of increasing interconnection between animal, human, and environmental health—as promoted by the One Health approach—the integration of robust biosecurity measures with efficient surveillance programs is essential to anticipate threats, contain outbreaks, and minimize the consequences of future health crises.
This event is part of the collaboration framework between IRTA-CReSA and the Center for Research in Porcine and Poultry Infections (CRIPA) in Quebec (Canada). During the event, the results of several joint projects will be presented.

Farm management strategies with impact on animal health and the emergence of resistant bacteria
Antibiotics have been and will be a necessary tool for the treatment of infectious diseases in production animals. However, the emergence of resistant bacteria has highlighted the need to seek strategies to improve animal health by making responsible use of these compounds. On this day, we will present different studies carried out in the context of the IRTA strategic initiative to reduce the use of antimicrobials in different production species and we will have the opportunity to debate the needs and concerns of the sector regarding the problem of resistances.

Pest control in fruit trees: phenological models (2nd part)
A model adjusted and validated to the conditions of the territory, is a fundamental tool to determine the best time to carry out interventions intended to control pests in the field.
The project "Updating and validating the phenological models of agricultural pests on the Ruralcat website" aims to update the pest models on the Agrometeorological Models web page of the RuralCat portal of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
At the conference we will talk about the need to do this update and validation for all pests, even if they are well-known pests, such as the carpocapsa. We will also discuss the adjustment achieved with the new model of grapholite in apple and the pests for which prediction models should be developed, taking into account the opinion of users in this regard.
